Linden Homes delivering a new quality, community place you can call home.

Linden Homes is close to completing the new development of over a hundred new, energy efficient homes at Walton Peaks on part of the Walton Hospital site on Whitecotes Lane. I caught up with Marketing Manager, Jess Sidwell from Linden Homes, to see how things were going.

“The development has been selling really well,” says Jess. “We only have a few properties left that are due to complete in 2022, it's another success story for people wanting to get onto the property ladder or expand into a stylish larger home.”

The Walton Peaks development consists of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, semi-detached and detached. The site is a mixture of open market, shared ownership and affordable homes, making an attractive community just over a mile from Chesterfield town centre.

The homes all achieve an energy efficiency rating of B and benefit from double glazing, two-zone heating controls and above regulation loft insulation. The finish of the homes focuses on quality with a selection of upgrade packs available. A number of properties have packs preinstalled that include upgraded kitchen appliances, lighting and landscaping that provides for parking for four cars in some of the larger properties.

As I type, the properties left include the three-bed ‘Bloomfield’, a three-storey house with integral garage, three beds and three bathrooms. “The space in these properties is fantastic,” explains Jess. “Perhaps a little deceiving from the outside. With living space spread over three floors it allows us to deliver a large kitchen/diner and separate lounge on the first floor, full height floor to ceiling windows in the lounge and a third storey bedroom adds to the appeal and it enjoys the benefit of an integral garage, shower room, WC and bedroom on the ground floor.

“The three bedroomed ‘Elliot’ is a more traditional build over two floors, but it enjoys a large living room/diner that opens out onto the rear garden.”

“Linden Homes is always keen to support the local community around our developments and we have loved the project ran with Walton Peaks Flying High Academy. We gathered up a bundle of building materials and, on the hottest day of the year built a fantastic bug hotel with year three students, the only problem was it was so hot it was installed in a classroom!

“We have also helped run a Christmas card competition with the school, which was great fun.”

As well as local direct engagement with schools, Linden Homes under their other arm of the business, Vistry Partnerships, joined the Chesterfield Champions organisation and have attended Springwell College where they spent some time with year nine and ten Design Technology students. “This was really appreciated by the students,” explains Jess. “We covered everything that happens on one of our developments, starting with initial processes and designs through to the more practical side from digging foundations to the final handover with the new owners. We were also able to provide information about how colleges can get involved with us through apprenticeship schemes.”

You can also see Linden Home's logo on local sports teams through sponsorship of Brampton Rovers Under 8's. A little further afield, Bramley Sunnyside U10’s team in Rotherham are sponsored by the Vistry Partnerships side of the business, where the site manager's son plays.

If you’re in the market for your first home or moving to a new larger home visit the site on Whitecotes Lane or check out the website for details. If you don’t manage to secure one of the last homes available for 2022, you can sign up to their mailing list for their new releases expected at the end of this year for completion in 2023.
