Meet Astra Designs UK
Astra Designs UK are a wonderful boutique clothing brand that create unique designs of clothes and accessories for all ages but specialise in ‘geek’ fashion. From the first idea to the last stitch it’s all created in house by Danielle.
‘Current trends are showing that the twirl skirt is extremely fashionable, it is popular with all ages but particularly with customers that have an interest in comic conventions. I have created lots of designs for the London Film and Comic Con and even got to meet some celebrities at my last visit’
The venture began in December 2018 in Chesterfield, Danielle wanted to share her love of handmade clothes with other locals. Business took off and Danielle now supplies pieces all over the world! From Superman bow ties to Harry Potter twirl skirts, Danielle has a design and crazy fabric to suit you! I popped in to see Danielle the owner and this is what she had to say:

‘I am very keen to upcycle and love it when a customer brings in some old bed sheets or curtains and wants me to make it into an item of clothing. These often end up being the most amazing fashion pieces! You can see some recent ones on my Instagram account’
Danielle is a very experienced clothes designer, her passion started at the age of 6 when she would watch her Grandma make clothes for her Aunties. Her family are very creative, the finer details she mastered from her Mum, Auntie Margaret and Auntie Annette. These ladies taught her the tricks of the trade and have motivated Danielle to become the entrepreneur she is today. Not only does Danielle run her business, make all the clothes singlehandedly, but she’s also a mum to four beautiful children, who I have no doubt are very proud of their mother (and get to showcase the most amazing outfits!)
