Chesterfield Rocks - Chesterfield Local - S40 local

The County Music Bar gig in support of Musicians Against Homelessness.

I popped into The County Music Bar in Chesterfield to find out what Phil, the new owner, had been up to with the venue and to catch up about some events. I was greeted by the legendary Hendrix the dog; he looks a bit like a wolf. (I wasn’t scared at all.) The place looks fantastic - with some tweaks and the addition of a stage it’s a great music venue for up-and-coming bands. The artwork is amazing, and the feel of the bar is very cool!

I really want to help get this charity on the map in Chesterfield as well as getting young talent interested in playing. The event not only supports the charity but also brings the community together to support some local talent.

The County Music Bar have lots of great events coming up but there was one event that really intrigued us. I was lucky enough to meet with the event organiser, Louise, and she told us all about what she has in store and the charity she represents.

"The Musicians Against Homelessness charity is a nationwide charity which directs funds into Crisis, aiding many homeless people to gain the tools to get back into work and tackling the problem at an MP level. The charity founder is a lady called Emma Rule and the patron is Alan McGee."

The founder, Emma, arranges some major events with bands such as Cast, Dodgy and The Happy Mondays, but is keen for people to get involved in the local area. Emma and her team are aiming to bring the events to local communities and get Derbyshire’s up-and-coming bands on board. Louise is the driving force behind the Chesterfield events and volunteers her time on top of her busy workload as a Project Manager.

"I am very lucky that The County Music Bar is helping the charity by providing a free venue. We have some great bands such as The Rooves, Alpaca Factory and Marvin’s Revenge. I really want to help get this charity on the map in Chesterfield as well as getting young talent interested in playing. The event not only supports the charity but also brings the community together to support some local talent."

Musicians Against Homelessness takes place on the 28th September at 12pm, and is one not to be missed! At only a fiver on the door, it’s a bargain!

The event has bands playing throughout the day, some great beers on tap and the epic Pizza Pi will be on site to cater to your hunger needs. You can purchase tickets from Wegottickets.com and be sure to check out their Facebook page for updates.
