A year or two ago Rob Bartle, owner at Autoselect, purchased a VW Campervan and started hiring it out. The brand-new camper was highly sought after and booked out most weekends. Check out our online edition 82 - April 2017 for our review, as we blagged the camper for a weekend in the Peak District.
“Demand for the camper has remained high”, says Rob, “and on occasions, we haven’t been able to supply customers with a van as it was booked. It wasn’t a difficult decision to expand the fleet with a couple of new vans.”
This month Rob has taken delivery of their second VW T6.1 Transporter and a VW Crafter. Unlike the first campers these two new additions are conversions carried out by the exceptionally professional team at Continental Campers in Nottingham.
“We chose to have the vans converted as this allows us to choose the options and spec on the vehicles. The Crafter is significantly larger than the T6 and the internal space will very comfortably sleep four people without the need to lift the roof etc, plus it has an onboard toilet and shower room. The finish is fantastic, much more motorhome, than camper.
“The latest edition the T6.1 is a camper van, again it will sleep four people, two on the fold down bed and two in the pop-up roof space.
“I’m sure everyone who rents one of vans won’t be disappointed, they are the perfect weekend get-away vehicle and we are seeing people book slots now to ensure they have an escape route planned once the lockdown is lifted.”
